April and Edley Lattimore ice fish on Saginaw Bay. It's April's first time ice fishing. "I was a little panicky walking out, asking 'is this a crack, is that a crack?'" says April. While Edley has ice fished on and off his entire life, it's been about 7 years since he's been on the ice. "It's because of kids. One after the other. It's too cold for them out here. They'd want to go back after 20 minutes." The ice coverage for the Great Lakes is above the 30-year average this year, with Lake Huron at 38.77 percent coverage on Jan. 6. It was at 17 percent a year ago at this time.
