SLOW WALK

How do we get to know a city but to traverse it by foot? In April 2019, during a one-month visit to New York City, I "slow-walked" every street (on both sides) on the east side of Manhattan from east 1st to east 110th. It was an attempt to notice the details of a place. Rather than discovering convenient answers, my photos began to ask questions. How does deliberately looking at a place reveal more about it? Is there some inherent mystery in the roads we travel? Does shifting from one side of the street to the other reveal a different perspective?
