EVERY BREATH

The breath is invisible, automatic, often unnoticed, and yet necessary to our existence. Never were we more aware of its omnipresence than in the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We kept our breath to ourselves, masking ourselves and staying within our homes. We witnessed the sometimes desperate attempts of hospitals to procure ventilators to supply oxygen. We saw our cities go desolate without the a living breathing pulse.

"Every Breath" visualizes the breath itself  — all images were taken through breath on the lens during the pandemic. The idea not only literally captures the strange force that gives us life, but also evokes the surreal, suffocating feeling of that isolating time in our collective history.

This series was
awarded semifinalist recognition in the POYi “COVID-19 Personal Expression" category.
