Slow walk - east side manhattan
In 2019, Amy walked the east side of Manhattan from 1st street to 110th street (and from 5th Ave to the water), on both sides of the street. The goal was to walk slowly and notice things, people, the details of a place. She walked upwards of 10 miles a day, and completed the project in a month. What she noticed in the aftermath were the connections between the photos in her series. How gestures, shapes, expressions, shadows, played off of each other to link one photo to the next, creating a web that then created the outlines of a city. The project, for Amy, was a both exercise in street photography, deep meditation, and the practice of slow noticing.
